Abstract
Sustainable development is the realization and advancement of human towards the overall protection, improvement and enhancement of natural life support system of mother earth. Undoubtedly conservation of natural resources is the first and foremost step towards sustainable development but recovery and restoration of the damaged or degraded resources is also the urgent need of the hour. Ensuring global food security is one of the biggest hurdles in the path of sustainability. Global food security is under threat due to the hard challenges like overpopulation, increased demand for food production, climate change and continuous soil depletion. Poor soil quality is primarily linked with decreased food crops yield. It is the need of the hour to find out sustainable solutions to restore the soil fertility and quality. Knowledge of modern tools and techniques from diverse fields can be integrated to find out sustainable opportunities of soil restoration. Introduction of artificial intelligence based strategies has revolutionized different sectors viz. health, engineering, agriculture, forecasting and many more. Successful application of AI techniques in precision agriculture offers potential opportunities for sustainable agriculture. Integrated AI techniques are also being successfully used to determine the soil properties like soil temperature, soil moisture, soil permeability, organic matter content, swelling pressure, electrical conductivity and many more. Therefore, the present chapter is an endeavor to further enlighten the path of successful harnessing of artificial intelligence in the field of soil recovery and restoration.
