A rich and healthy nation requires not only natural resources, good climate, disciplined people but also beautiful environment surrounded by green trees. The trees having brilliant coloured flowers play a pivotal role in making the surroundings Joyful and Spiritual. Such a beautiful environment refine the minds of people and activate the moods. The beautiness of a city or town not determined by its vast area but by its bioaesthetic planning along with majestic trees. Ornamental flowering trees along the roads of cities, houses and public places acts as bird sanctuaries and helps in preservation of graceful avion fauna. The colorful birds and flowers remove the drab environment of concrete jungles and rise the spirit of city people.
Fortunately, India has a vast wealth of bright beautiful flowering trees. Trees like blue flowered Jacarandas, golden yellow amaltas, orange-scarlet gold mohars, dazzling scarlet colvillias, blood red eirthrinas and pink largerstroemias are unforgetful if they are seen in full blooms. Proper planning is essential to plant the trees suitable to the environment. Besides planning, continuous efforts are needed for growing these trees in a scientific way. The beauty of Landscape gardens of Japan, maple groves of Canada, the vineyards of Rhine, tulip fields of Holland, saffron terraces of Kashmir valley, hedge rows of England, grand avenues of Srinagar Chenars, poplar-lined roads of France are not creation of nature. These excellent things are the result of planning and hard work of several generations.
Ancient people revered the trees and believe that spirits dwell in them. Some tribal organize festivals when certain trees like Sal blooms. At the time of Buddhas birth, his mother Mayadevi stretched out her hand to hold a branch of sal tree during her delivery of child. Sal trees are also said to have rendered homage to Buddha at his nirvana by offering their flowers fall on him out of a season. The sal branches bended on him to provide shade from the hot sun. There is a tradition of worship of these trees by buddhists and Hindus.
